About FORMAS
The Research Council Formas is a Swedish governmental research-funding agency
that encourages and supports scientifically significant research related to
sustainable development. In particular this means support in the areas of the
environment, agricultural sciences, including forestry, horticulture, veterinary
medicine, food, fish and reindeer husbandry, and spatial planning, including
building sciences and community systems. The projects supported cover a wide
range of approaches from basic research to more applied efforts.
The major annual open-call for research proposals has a sub-programme named “Plant biology for agriculture and forest sectors” which receives about 70-100 proposals from researchers at Swedish research institutions every year. More information can be found at www.formas.se .
