About Génoplante
Génoplante is a five-year programme in plant genomics, which represents a model for cooperation between research in both public and private sectors at national level. Génoplante programmes are carried out and evaluated within a Scientific Interest Group (Groupement d’interêt scientifique, GIS: a French-specific legal entity for a science partnership). Génoplante is funded with public (78%) and private (22%) money, inter alia by the Ministry of Research and the Ministry of Agriculture. It has a budget of €200 million for five years. Since its launch in 1999 Génoplante has funded and managed more than 100 projects, involving about 400 scientists.
