Meetings

Meetings and Workshops

The ERA-NET Plant Genomics brings together administrators and representatives of national genomics programmes.
This network of national funding organisations develops and implements joint strategic actions with the aim to structure plant genomics research into a true European Research Area.

The number of actual meetings, where representatives of the member organisations come together to present and discuss the ongoing work, is kept limited. Two General Assembly Meetings, of which at least one is combined with a meeting of the Network Steering Committee, and three to five additional meetings focussing at the taks at hand (ECT/CCT) per year. An intranets' virtual meeting place supplements the physical meetings. This intranet (a restricted section of the web) is the projects memoboard, the forum for discussion and collaborative work on documents, and the projects archive. It allows all partners to stay fully informed and involved, and invites them to be all actively engaged in the ongoing work.

General Assembly Meetings are meetings where the complete network meets; all network partners; and both the administrators and representatives of the scientific community. These meetings are at the start of the project (Kick-off Meeting), at the end of Workpackages, and as theme workshops organised within the scope of the project.

The Network Steering Committee (NSC) is the official decision making body of the ERA-PG network. Each participating funding organisation has one delegate in the NSC. Their meetings are conveniently organised during the annual Plant Genomics European Meetings.

The Executive Coordination Team (ECT) is a team of administrators from the taskleading countries and the other participating countries. Together with the network coordinator, this team is responsible for the progress of the work as described in the projects contract. This team meets on a three-monthly basis. In addition, specific meetings are planned ad hoc when needed.

After a major information gathering exercise in its first year, the network started the preparation of a common research programme in its second year. At the NSC meeting (September 2005) a Call Coordination team was appointed to prepare and manage the first call for this transnational plant genomics research programme 'Structuring Plant Genomic Research in Europe'. This team of National Call Coordinators will meet when necessary for the call organisation.

The Call Coordination Team (CCT) is a team of the National Call Coordinators of the participating and interested countries. Together with the network coordinator, this team is responsible for the implementation of the joint calls. In this task is also involved the Call Secretariat, set up for handling the administrative aspects of the joint call procedure. This team meets on a three-monthly basis. In addition, specific meetings are planned ad hoc when needed.
